BW up and running again (and on a new server!)

Written by Railslide 10 years ago As you probably noticed, BeWelcome has experienced several hours of downtime today. Last night around 2.00 (CEST) the disk of one of our servers failed.   A team of volunteers has been working hard the whole day today, and thanks to them the website is now up and running again. Luckily,it looks like it was possible to restore most of the data. However since part of the data could have been lost, we would recommend you to check if the messages you sent and the comments you wrote after 00:00 a.m. CEST on May 6th are really where they should be (check 'messages sent')   The good news, however, is that on the back of recent technical issues BeWelcome has completed upgrades to the communities infrastructure. While historically BeWelcome has had an excellent uptime record, recent events had made it apparent that some of the servers running the network were urgently in need of an upgrade.    We apologise for the downtime and are sorry for any inconvenience caused.     Big thanks to hkroger, tobixen, planetcruiser, leoalone, shevek, steinwinde for working on setting up a new server and getting BeWelcome online again -  and to all those who provided help, moral support, and important information!
